The nature of consciousness is such that is does not merely react to phenomena but actively reacts for phenomena- that is, the mind craves outcomes, and induces conditions for their satisfaction.
The mind suffers when these preconceived, desired outcomes are not satisfied. This is the nature of mind.
There's nothing wrong with being disappointed, depressed, or dejected. There's nothing wrong with pain. That's just the nature of mind. There's nothing wrong with us. We just think, and thinking causes problems, which cause pain.
What are you going to think with?
Who, exactly, witnesses what you're thinking?
What language will the thinking be in?
What data will be contained within the language in which the thinking is done?
And so forth. Eventually it always leads back to the truth:
Consciousness is perpetually becoming aware of consciousness is perpetually becoming aware of consciousness is perpetually becoming aware of consciousness
Reality is a feedback loop. As a matter or fact, reality is a mobius strip, an M.C. Escher painting on a background of space-time that is always consuming itself and turning into itself, like a snake eating her own tail infinitely.
Precisely like a snake eating her own tail. Like the sign for infinity.
Subconsciousness is shakti, the moving unconscious energy of life-force itself. As this consciousness becomes aware of its own existence, the unconscious becomes conscious and the shadow is exposed to the light, and the pure witness - the eternal, nonexistent witness who is aware that it does not exist abides beyond both existence and nonexistence and witnesses, and this newly self-aware consciousness which remembers all newly self-aware consciousnesses which came before calls itself Siva or Jah and is reborn again and again forever.
Because consciousness is a strange loop, a paradoxical feedback loop that is never a closed system, the observer of consciousness (which is also consciousness) is not a fixed observer but an interdependent network of observations observing themselves.
Mind is observing mind, which of course influences mind. It's a given that the subject of observation influences the object of observation, especially when the subject of observation is mind and the object of observation is mind. Then we are observing a mind which is being influenced by...
our mind
as we continue to observe a mind as it remains under the influence of...
our mind
and cause begets effect
as mind causes mind,
and mind is an effect of mind.
The observer is forever only one step ahead of the observation. We could say that the observed creates the observer, actually. Awareness of observation begets awareness of observer, and the feedback loop begins again, until awareness of observation begets awareness of observer, same same only different, and the feedback loop begins again.
And so forth.
